There is something so enticingly delicious about this books. The way that it i able to sweep you away from reality into a world of passion, money, and betrayal. Even though The Luxe 's most striking feature wasn't its well crafted prose, the book is well written with moments of descriptive brilliance. And even if the author wasn't quite as talented,I don't think most readers would care, happy to get swept away in the moment of the book. Happy Tuesday! It is still summer, and I am still hating it. But I do have a few young adult reads to tell you about! The Off Season was the sequel to Diary Queen , but for me it is lacking some of the qualities that made me love it so much. DJ has always been a little obsessive, as many of us are, thinking about things in such a way that blows them totally out of proportion. But at the same time there is a humor that comes out o f her obsessiveness. Yet in The Off Season I didn't feel as connected to the humor lying underneath the voice. DJ's obsessing was completely hyperbolic and verging on unrealistic. Her fears were totally realistic in the first book. Man...

Keesha's House , written by Helen Frost, was the 2003 Printz Medal Winner. It is a book of striking and realistic poems that will resonate with many teens. The poems are beautifully written, yet true to the thought process and speech patterns to modern urban life. Each poem has a very interesting and odd method in their line breaks. I sometimes found these breaks to be beautiful in their jarring emotional confusion, but other times they were simply just confusing. Needing to be reread 3 or 4 times to grasp the meaning. But the line breaks were done intentionally and fully explained at the end of the book. This book deals with heavy hitting topics. It tells a story buy allowing the mind to loosely connect the fragments it is given. "Now This Baby" is the first poem in Keesha's House . SUMMER! It is too hot and everyone is so busy even though they don't think they will be. I don't ever feel like reading. I just want to vegitate because doing anything that takes anymore energy creates body heat and I DON'T WANT TO FEEL ANY HOTTER. What kind of reading do you enjoy in the summer? Since last Tuesday I have finished 6 books. All of them young adult! One in particular caught my interest the most. It wasn't th e best or the most entertaining (in all reality it kept putting me to sleep), but I was so curious to learn how it came about. It was whisper silent in the library today. Yes, one should always whisper in the library, but here they rarely do. It felt like a rainy, dark day though the sun was shining brightly. I did not sleep well last night. I had many nightmares and half sleeps. Reality mingling into dreams, like a kind of delirium. Even now I do not feel fully awake, traveling through some dream world or walking through water.

Today I am having a weird day. It started last night while I was reading. I just decided to close my eyes for a little bit, but of course I drifted off for the rest of the night. Since it was a little bit earlier than I usually go to bed by body decided that getting up at 5am would be the best compensation. My mind didn't agree. It has been sort of nice; lazily reading, lounging in bed, cat napping. Midday the girl's father came and picked them up. I grabbed a little bit of a longer nap. Today I finished The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale. It is nice to be finished with it since it did tend to put me to sleep. Though I enjoyed it more than that statement implies, and I think even more than I expected I would. I also started Book of a Thousand Days by the same author. I didn't get around to posting last week, but I still want to post my May Wrap-Up . May was a fabulous reading month for me even though, seriously, I don't feel that accomplished. I recently starte...
