For Gosh Sakes

Once upon a time I had this little thing called momentum.  It was gratifying and presumably interesting to be writing new blog posts.  But I have become stalled.  MAJORLY stalled.  I am trying to figure out how to rectify this problem.  I thought maybe blogging for blogging’s sake might do it, but I can’t even manage that.  Yesterday, despite all my well planned intentions to post the second half of Kelly Parra’s Writer’s Studio, I was delayed by my 5 year old getting stung by a bee.  Honestly, of all the parenting emergencies to face I never expected this to be one of them.  Luckily it was very  minor! No allergy, thank goodness.  But there was a moment of panic before I could tell.  The little darling stayed home from school and we had a nice lazy day.  Why am I telling you all this?  Blogging for blogging’s sake!

I have not been reading very much and I am okay with that.  I am thinking of doing some research regarding myths.  Sometimes I find that when I don’t feel like reading fiction a little dose of non fiction can get me restarted.

What do you do when you face a reading or blogging lull?  I am not just talking about being simply too busy, though that is part of it.  Do you start something new? Force yourself to finish everything you mentally committed yourself to?  New road? Same road? Old road?

Have you been reading any nonfiction? Memoirs? Essays?

P.S. My 5 year old is very dissatisfied with my choice of bee graphics.  She would like the bee to be angry.  She is very cute, but not cute enough to oblige at this time.

  1. I wish I could tell you, but I'm afraid I've hit that slump right now, too. :/

  2. Well, I just started blogging in January so I haven't hit that lull yet. But I'm sure it'll come someday. I like the happy bee!

  3. Mmmm, I would try new things or visit other blogs who seem to be not in a lull. It's hard to get back into blogging after being away for so long (2 days can be long), but I know that I read a lot more :)

So I would just say read more and perhaps you'll get inspired to come back to the blogosphere and talk about this awesome book that you're reading!

I just finished my little red book which is an anthology of first period experiences, and it was really amazing! I would highly recommend it to any woman!

  4. When I'm in a lull or don't have a book to review, I'll try posting some other fun news.

  5. I force myself to blog anyway. Ironically enough, some of my best entries have come when I sat down at the computer thinking, "I don't want to do this, I don't have anything interesting to say, I'd rather be watching Dallas re-runs." I just power through it the best I can.
