Currently Reading

Now that school has started for my kids I have found less time to read and without the internet at home, definitely less time to blog! I just updated my 100+ book list and am up to 147 right now. If you check it out you will see A LOT of audio recently.

Today I am at the library because a book I had on hold came in.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!

I know a million of you have read this already but I was late on the band wagon. Luckily my library has 4 copies of it and it only took me about a month to get the book. I can't wait to get home and start it.
I am not a big fan of series. I hate to REQUIREMENT to read more books. Yes, there is an enjoyment to revisiting the same characters and stories that you love but it can get annoying waiting to find out what happens when you are reading a series while it is released.
But despite that I am reading a lot of different series right now. In the past I have even avoid books that are the first in a series because I don't want the reading commitment. Some in particular that I have been loving are the Shadow Child series starting with Among the Hidden. This is a younger series but it also has a lot of complexity. I am about the start the 4th book in the series.
There are a few other series I just started and am eager to read more of. Evermore was great and I am excited to read Blue Moon. I am in the middle of City of Bones and I recently finished a great book on audio by Elizabeth Knox called Dreamhunter.
What series are you currently reading?

  1. I know what you mean about series and trilogies. But still, I'm drawn to them; there was a whole year of reading where I swear I'd get to the end of the book and be slammed with the realization that it was book one in a trilogy or series (or worse, realize a few chapters in that the book fell somewhere in the middle of a series).

Right now I'm eagerly awaiting the final installment of The Hunger Games. I'm also hoping the library gets in a copy of Fire by Kristen Cashore, the companion book to Graceling. And I just read Blackbringer, the first in the Dreamdark series by Laini Taylor.

Our libraries have a policy about not allowing interlibrary loans until books have been released a year, and I had to get Blackbringer through interlibrary loan, so the second one (just released) I'll have to get... somehow. I'm not patient enough to wait a year.

  2. Series? I've actually just finished the first book in the Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians series by Brandon Sanderson (very funny), and have just dived into The Maze Runner by James Dashner. Very good so far. Sadly I'm going to have forever to wait for the second one to come out since it just got released.
