Cover Exploration

I was attempting to arrange my books yesterday. I was getting all of my young adult and juvenile literature together. What I noticed was the EXACT type of book I thought was good when I was kid.
The cover would look something similar to this.

A brightly colored border with that little triangle at the top.
Maybe it was the apple at the top that signified this as a good book. Maybe the apple meant "Teacher Approved."
What do you think of my childhood perception of a good book?
Here are a few more:

What covers were you drawn to as a kid?
Do you remember?
