  2. What about Catcher in the Rye for one of your classic YA novels? Does The Outsiders count as a classic? If so, it would be a good one too.

  3. For your SF (like you need MORE reading???)

    The Left Hand of Darkness
    Ursula K. Le Guin

    Dhalgren
    Samuel Delany

The last one is pretty gritty but so well done....both are old. Do you know bookfinder.com? Very useful!

  4. Heather - Thanks for your comment. I started Dune last year and enjoyed it but just got distracted by other books. I tried to scale my goals back this year from last year in hopes that I might actually stick to more of them!!

  5. Shalonda- Catcher and The Outsiders would both be re-reads for me. I do want to re-read Catcher because I disliked it the firs time through. I was going to do it with the whole John Green thing, but I never got around to it.

The Outsiders is definitely a classic in my book. I read Rumble Fish this past year and it did make me want to re-read The Outsiders, but I am not particularly motivated to do re-reads. Been considering trying to do some of them on audio, just for a different experience.

  6. Kathleen - OH MY GOD! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE COMMENTING ON MY BLOG??

I have The Left Hand of Darkness and I really want to read it. Le Guin is just so influencial in so many circles I sort of feel overwhelmed at just the thought of her writing!

Never heard of Dhalgren but I will HAVE to check it out.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  7. These are fabulous and managable goals. A good YA classic might be Anne of Green Gables there are loads of books in that series. Also some of Judy Blume. Try looking for the book Shelf Awareness they have loads of classic YA listed in there.
